We, the undersigned, unequivocally condemn the violent assault on Information and Broadcasting Advisor Mahfuj Alam in New York. This was not an isolated act of brutality, but a chilling reminder that the fascist forces that resisted during the July Revolution have regrouped and are once again on the offensive. They are mobilizing their entire arsenal of social and cultural capital, media networks, community platforms, and ideological propaganda to justify attacks on those who dared to lead the struggle for freedom and justice.

The targeting of Advisor Mahfuj Alam was not the result of his (alleged) personal failings. He was attacked because he is perceived as an opponent of the fascist regime and its ideology. That the Bangladeshi state and segments of civil society have chosen silence in this critical moment is nothing less than a moral and political failure. Their complicity through inaction emboldens the very forces of authoritarianism that continue to menace our collective future.

Let it be clear: attempts to silence or intimidate anti-fascist voices under the false banner of 1971 will not succeed. The spirit of the July Revolution endures in the courage of its people, and no campaign of violence or distortion can extinguish it. We call on progressive forces everywhere within Bangladesh and across the world to denounce this attack, reject all efforts to normalize fascist violence, and stand in unwavering solidarity with Advisor Mahfuj Alam and all those who continue to resist authoritarianism and injustice.
