Citizen Initiative expresses grave concern and unequivocal condemnation of the reported forcible “push-in” of Indian citizens, primarily Muslims, into Bangladesh by Indian authorities. These acts, widely documented in reputable media sources and acknowledged by the Bangladeshi government, represent a flagrant violation of human rights, international norms, and the spirit of regional cooperation.
Such coercive actions not only trample upon the dignity and rights of the individuals being expelled but also threaten to destabilize the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and India. The targeted nature of these expulsions, seemingly rooted in the discriminatory policies of the current Indian administration, underscores a disturbing trend of religious persecution that must not be ignored. Bangladesh, grappling with its own socio-economic challenges, should not be forced to bear the consequences of another nation’s internal political agenda.
We call on the Government of India to immediately cease these unlawful and unethical practices, honor its commitments under international law, and uphold the fundamental rights of all its citizens, irrespective of faith or identity. Equally, we urge the Government of Bangladesh to respond with strong diplomatic resolve, defending its territorial sovereignty and the dignity of its people.
We also appeal to the international community, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and global human rights organizations, to thoroughly investigate these serious allegations and hold accountable those responsible for orchestrating or enabling such violations.
Citizen Initiative stands in unwavering solidarity with the affected individuals and reaffirms its commitment to justice, human dignity, and peaceful coexistence across all borders.
