Citizen Initiative is closely monitoring the rampant acts of vandalism unfolding across the country, fueled by the incendiary and provocative rhetoric of the ousted fascist dictator, Sheikh Hasina, who is now cowardly hiding in Delhi, India. Hasina’s shameless reappearance in social media has infuriated the people of Bangladesh, especially activists who lost their friends and family during the July Uprising—a massacre orchestrated by Hasina herself, using both Awami League mobs and state machinery to crush innocent civilians.
We demand that the government take immediate and decisive action against this fugitive criminal. The ousted Awami League leader must be brought to justice without delay for the unspeakable crimes she has committed against the people of Bangladesh.
Furthermore, we strongly condemn the premeditated and barbaric attacks carried out by Awami League thugs against students in Gazipur City. This orchestrated assault, which left dozens of students injured, is yet another glaring testament to the utter lawlessness and impunity with which Hasina’s goons continue to operate. The failure of the interim government to maintain law and order in the wake of such violent aggression is unacceptable and deeply concerning.
We call upon the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, to prove its commitment to justice by ensuring that every single perpetrator involved in the July Massacre is held accountable. There can be no reconciliation without swift and severe punishment for those who have shed innocent blood. The people of Bangladesh will not tolerate another betrayal. This is a defining moment—justice must prevail!
